I just found out (courtesy of WoW Insider) that Australians, for the first time ever, are able to purchase the telecast of Blizzcon from our Pay TV providers! Huzzah! It’s a bit expensive at fifteen dollars per day, but if you purchase both days you are able to get a code for the Blizzcon Mount. Let’s just say, I’m excited.

The telecast is at a god-awful time (4.30am-1.30pm), but seeing as I have a ball to go to the night before I may be able to live blog any exciting news that I see as it happens from the comfort of my very own lounge. We shall see if a) I am sober and coherent enough and b) if I can stay awake.

On other news, I have finished my practicum, and have been offered a 10 week position to fill out the rest of the year while I wait for a full time position next year. Very exciting! I even get to get PAID, which is a novelty! :D Because today was the last day, I went out to celebrate and wasn’t able to catch up on much WoW unfortunately. Not to mention it’s finals football tonight. Hopefully I’ll have more to blog about tomorrow.

Came across this interesting widget this morning while going through my reader. It’s one of those widgets which provides you with a stack of information (albeit probably completely useless stuff), and I always get a kick out of those. Introducing the WoW Armory Character Distribution Widget! Basically, if you put in a character name, it will give you a variety of statistics about that name. You can choose whether you want to look at EU or US servers (or both), and it runs off the respective armories. Here is a quick breakdown of how Saresa fared *Warning – Interpretations of the statistics may be completely skewed by bias and lazy math*

Overall: 44 Saresa’s exist in the World of Warcraft (not counting those below level 10, who do not exist in the Armory). The vast majority of these are Human Females. A significant proportion of these are also Warlocks. Gee, I am just so original…

1. Class Distribution: 35% of Saresa’s prefer Warlock!

2. Gender Distribution: Most Saresa’s are girls… 2 are guys, which is a bit confusing because I wouldn’t consider it to be a very masculine name. Eh, have to have gender benders everywhere, right?

3. Race Distribution: Overwhelmingly, Saresa’s are Humans, the superior race! (Or the other white meat, depending on your perspective)

4. Faction Distribution: Go go Alliance! 39/44 Saresa’s say Alliance is where it’s at! Face it, Dwarfs have the best pubs around, and Humans clearly are the most fashionable of us all (don’t believe me? See the above chart!)

One other thing that I would love to see would be a level distribution chart, because it would be interesting to know what level we all are. In the realm of impossibility, I’d also like to know which were mains (which could be achieved if Blizzard somehow had a ‘mark as main’ thing on the log in screen), and how old each of them are. Is there a Saresa older than me? Heck, how old am I? I don’t even truly remember how long I have been playing for! I am all for that information being available on the Armory (just because I am a curious bug, although I could see how people could use it to be discriminatory).

How many of you are there? Go have a look!

Note: If you look up more than one character, please ensure that you hit the Submit button, not your enter key, or it will just generate the results from your previous search.

I have a deep, dark secret. One which I have never before revealed (well.. at least not to many people). I have a hidden interest in role playing. There, I said it. I know it’s shocking and hard to believe, but it’s true. A major reason why I haven’t even tried is that I seriously doubt I would be much good at it – I tend to be much better at the critical aspect of things rather than the creative. I guess I am also a bit of a wimp when it comes to the ridicule some people seem to think is OK to pile on role players. Of course, I don’t see anything wrong with role playing, but I just don’t know if I could deal with the crap every day.

In the interests of experimenting, I am going to have a go at some questions which Anna has posted up on her site over a couple of posts. I don’t think I will answer these in Q&A format, but rather some paragraphs. I guess I am just odd that way. I can’t guarantee that it will be interesting, but I think that everyone should have a go, if only as a creative exercise! Since I have spent some time in the last couple of days on my Hunter, I will stick with her for this post.

What is your character’s name?

Why did he/she pick his/her class?

What’s the worst trouble he/she ever got into as a child?

What is his/her favourite thing to eat?

What does he/she have in his/her pockets?

When is your character’s birthday? Does he/she know?

What is your character’s favourite place in the world? Why?

What kind of sense of humour does your character have (if any)?

Is your character introverted or extroverted?

What just irritates the hell out of your character?

Jaquenetta could not help but feel drawn towards the creatures of Azeroth as she began her training. It was hard for her to leave the magical path that others so clearly expected of her, but her affinity with creatures has helped her tolerate the disapproval of the other Draenei. She can not remember whether she was successfully following a magical path before the crash, nor can she remember her exact age. She gets the feeling she may have been a mage before her new life, as she still feels drawn in a small way towards mages. However, her new Azerothian life was a chance to make a fresh start as a hunter.

In her tenth Azerothian season she almost changed her mind, having some difficulty finding a creature she could bond with. Thankfully, she came upon Brutus, a nightsaber who was attacking a fellow Draenei. While Jaquenetta did the best she could to assist the mage he was attacking, her bandages were of no avail. She resolved to tame the creature that so viciously wounded the mage, and turn him to a path which would assist the Draenei. While the taming process was difficult (and Brutus stubbornly resolved to not love Jaquenetta) she soon won him over, and they are the very best of friends.

Jaquenetta is still very young, being in her twenty fourth season. That being said, she has shown an amazing capacity for getting into mischief. She can be quite clumsy when excited, and in eagerness to assist the Stillpine Furbolgs she accidentally jumped upon High Chief Stillpine’s tail. The diplomatic mess which followed got Jaq into a great deal of trouble, with Prophet Velen getting involved to help placate the Stillpine leader. Jaquenetta still carries the small tuft of fur in her pockets today, and strokes it occasionally as a reminder of the effects of her excitement. Even today she avoids situations with small groups of people where she could cause mayhem, and loves spending her time in the cities of Azeroth, especially the sophisticated and glamorous Human capital Stormwind, where there is always bustle and her excitable tics aren’t noticed so much. She loves socialising with people, and has an effervescent sense of humour. She does have reclusive moments, but these are generally caused by a clumsy hoof stomping a delicate Human foot in a fit of giggles!

Jaq springs back from these set backs pretty easily, although this is always helped by munching on a nice piece of Spiced Onion Cheese. Jaquenetta isn’t much of a meat eater, owing to Brutus’ meat loving diet – there is simply nothing ever left for her!

Jaquenetta does sometimes feel irritated by the killing of innocent critters. Her love for animals extends beyond the large beasts, and the unjustifiable killing of critters saddens and irritates her.

………………………………………………………………………………………………

In other news:

Gorefiend is down! Whoo hoo! Too bad he leaves a somewhat unimpressive looking corpse.

I have been advised by many many people that I should create a death knight… at least to play the ‘how to play’ quests. I have been fairly steadfast in my refusal to play a DK (mainly because I want to focus on my mains, and I don’t like the idea of a new tanking class – I know, I hate change). Anyway, since I have been told I simply HAVE to do the quests, that it’s what all the cool kids are doing, well… I suppose I will.

With one caveat: it has to have the cutest, most sickeningly super sweet name that is possible. I figure there are going to be lots of pink pig tailed gnome DK’s out there, so I might go for a Draenei. Or maybe for the total scariness of a male Dwarf DK… with a name like Cuddles. The point of this is:

I want YOU guys to help me think of a name! Make it the most repulsive, cutesy name you can think of. It can be male or female, I don’t much care, but I think I will go for a male Dwarf.

The future Schnookums? Cupcake? Pie even?

The other day, Kalf and I were discussing mounts. Namely, the fact that my dreadsteed kicks his chocobo’s feathery behind. Want to know why?

His chocobo reminds me oddly of Plucka Duck (especially in the part of that video where he is running with the Cricket Team)

If it doesn’t look like Plucka, it certainly looks like a genetically mutated chicken

My dreadsteed has hooves of firey fury

His mane is also firey fury

Only warlocks can have the ‘real’ dreadsteed!

I suppose for me the last point is the kicker. I love my dreadsteed because not everyone can get one. They add that special flavour to the warlock class, emphasising the fact that I may look cute, but am evil as can be! However, if I could choose any other mount in the game to ride, it would have to be the mechanostrider. Darn being human and being too tall. I say this is discrimination! I want a mechanostrider!

However, I am running a poll to see which mount is REALLY the best. Limited to racial/class mounts (simply because I am too lazy to include every single other mount there is available in the game). Choose your favourite! Go Dreadsteed!

Edit: I can’t seem to get polls showing up. As soon as I fix this, you can vote!

I am in a quandry. I have decided to level up a new alt, but I really do not know which one to go for first! I am torn between two options – Pewts, the level 11 mage (with a very rudimentary learning of enchanting and tailoring under her belt), or Eleyth, the level 22 priest (who has excellent alchemy skills thanks to Hermia levelling herbalism but not alchemy). Both classes hold appeal for different reasons, but there are also different reasons why I do not want to level them.

Pewts:

She is adorable, which is a plus.

I do enjoy the whole ‘sheeping’ aspect of the class… but I guess it could wear thin

I already planned out her professions and talents gosh darn it – so I plan a little in advance, shush

I already have a warlock, do I need another pewpew caster class?

Eleyth:

Is already 11 levels ahead

has prettier gear because she is 11 levels ahead

I would like to have a healer to round out my trifecta

has great professions

I have no idea how I want to level her though! Shadow seems so unappealing for some reason.

Heeeeeeeelp!!

I ran across this quiz mentioned in Leafshine and Too Many Annas, and couldn’t resist – me being the quiz fiend I am! It asks you a series of questions, and then assesses your answers to tell you what sort of player you are.

SEAK

SEAK players are usually very interested in the the ‘total experience’ of a virtual world–meeting other people and finding the unique places within it. They don’t care much for PVP or levelling, but meeting up with online friends to see new parts of the world is usually fun and exciting.

Breakdown: Achiever 46.67%, Explorer 66.67%, Killer 20.00%, Socializer 66.67%

Not very surprising – I have always known that what keeps me interested in WoW is meeting new people and getting to know them. Levelling for me is a very slow process, because I often get caught up in guild chat and completely ignore the actual levelling aspect of the game! I have fond memories of Saresa sitting in Light’s Hope Chapel for hours on end, chatting to my friends in the guild. Oh, good times. My ex-boyfriend used to always say that the only reason I played WoW was to socialise (although he did qualify that this is perfectly fine according to the Theory of Funitivity! Yes, it really IS a theory!)
